Thank you, Diane, you summed it up well... "Trump is neither a statesman nor a world leader. He’s a real estate billionaire from Queens who’s captured political power but is morally bankrupt. He lets Putin steal children, then panders to him." Both Putin and Trump have no moral compass.
When will the UN, NATO and the world wake up? Putin has slow-walked us into WWIII.
This Arctic deal with Russia, I believe that's why Trump wants Canada to be his 51st State, to border Russia and why not include Greenland while he's at it? If he can deport millions in the US (no questions asked), what's ~55,000 Greenlanders?
Rene, I concur. History should be a great teacher (if we pay attention). tRUMP’s agenda serves only himself and his wealthy, corrupt cohort. America may not rank even 2nd amongst his priorities.
I’m no military strategist, but a simple lay person might wonder why Europe and its allies haven’t already lent more direct action/aid to their expressed resolve and pledge to support Ukraine fully.
If only Biden had undertaken, as Putin put it, “a special military exercise” … away from Moscow, and other urban development, demonstrating the numbingly overwhelming power of US aerial military weaponry (with no “boots on the ground”), the conflict could have been over. The message sent … “STOP IT…do you have any idea who you are f#*#ing with” ?
And certainly tRUMP could, as promised, have ended the Ukraine conflict in short order, but for the unshakable hold that Vlady has on El Cheato. Russia is no military match for Europe, and other nations who pledge support for Ukraine. That message needs to be sent sooner than later. The entire world is a better place without Putin’s Russia. If Europe and allies make moves to actually defend Ukraine, and put Vlady in his place, all other rogue nations, like Iran, North Korea, etc al would be served ample warning.
And America can continue the precipitous decline from its self-proclaimed exceptionalism, and global leadership.
Well said, Bob. It's amazing to see how quickly American exceptionalism can decline. Once you lose trust, you have to earn it back, and that takes many years.
People will forgive more quickly than forget.
Trump is re-ordering the World (truly astonishing), and I certainly hope we can protect Ukraine more effectively and without US intervention.
Ah, Diane. There is so much to grieve here. It makes my heart ache. And I want to add something perhaps of interest when it comes to Trump's complete (and I do mean complete) lack of anything even remotely resembling morality. First, there have been credible stories floating around that in Trump's Epstein days he engaged in sexual relations with girls as young as 13. In one of these encounters the girl was forced, and afterward Trump (in a way that seems eerily prescient of the way he's continued to operate in politics, which maybe adds some weight to the story) told her, "If you ever say one word about this, little girl, just remember I know who your family is and where they live." Not making any claims about this, but it reads pretty true to form. Secondly, there's the matter of Trump's current efforts to get (white) American women to have more babies and to reward them for having six or more with some sort of medal. America's demographics are changing, its women are changing their priorities and both of those things frighten our president. Russia's population is also lagging and I seem to remember Putin offering similar incentives to Russian women who have a half dozen or so children. And now he's ripping kids away from their Ukranian families and transplanting them into Russian hands. The question remains as to whether or not he is personally profiting from this action via some underhanded means, like his mini-me Mr. Trump. The whole thing is beyond concerning. And as for the courts, so far, Bibi Netanyahu, Trump, and Putin have all been changed with crimes and none has done time. What a world we're living in.
Thank you, Diane, for the hardest hitting summary yet of this fiend we call President. I sense an evolution on your part. I hope your audience, voice and influence only intensifies. Trump’s evil seems to have no floor. He entered politics corrupt and it only deepens, under the umbrella of immunity bestowed on the presidency by SCOTUS. And Trump is not alone. He’s assembled a clown car cabinet that literally makes me vomit. To say nothing of one chief advisor, loudmouth Stephen Miller. I’d better stop here, out of respect for the polite nature of your platform.
Is he a 'billionaire'? Bankrupt six times. A real estate failure and felon. Reminds me of The Godfather. Runs the government like a Mafia boss. Then we must remember American people put him there and GOP won't remove him. Also he has no legal right to impose sanctions yet Democrats have not stopped him as GOP control Congress thanks to American electorate. US in decline. Was independence about wanting America run by Mafia? The opposite. Sad bad country now.
I know it is inappropriate to bring in religion, but the Blessed Virgin did relay to the three Portuguese children at Fatima that "Russia will spread its evils in the world." And this, Diane, gives us a glimpse into the very heart of darkness that Ukraine is fighting while our "leaders" are its handmaidens.
I know...I know...it all sounds very histrionic. But there is no other way to react to reading this superbly stated and documented article,
Keep the spotlight on the evil in Eastern Europe. While it is fine to moan about the immoral amateurs in the White House, I'm not hearing any better plan from the Democrats should they retake Congress in 2026.
Unfortunately the Canadian electorate seems poised to re-elect the vacuous virtue signaling Liberals who can support Israel in public while imposing an arms embargo in private. Go figure.
The reason Trump’s negotiations do not mention the kidnapped children is because Trump does not place a any value on them. They are not going to get him his photo opportunity with Putin or his Nobel Peace Prize.
As mean as that sounds, it is true. Trump, who has the final say, not Rubio or Witkoff, is only interested in what benefits him personally, such as a cut of the deals that take place with Russia after a ceasefire and his name on a tower in Moscow.
It is unfortunate that it has taken the EU so long to realise that the US is no longer interested in being allies with the EU/NATO, but I guess there was always hope whilst Biden was President. With Trump that hope has died. The EU must understand they have no other choice now but to re-arm. Ukraine has bought them time, now they need to pick up the pace and show the world what they are made of.
Putin and Russia will only be stopped by force, he has no interest in a world governed by rule of law if it is not his rule. What plays out between Russia, China and the US in the future is out of our hands. We can only deal with the present.
There are some points that are missing from your comments. The Ukraine has lost the war. It has no leverage whatsoever. Russia’s economy is kaput but Putin is firmly in power and supported by his military as well as oligarchs, thugs and criminals. The EU’s feckless policies have greatly contributed to the Ukraine disaster.
Trump, warts and all, has achieved something that neither Obama or the cabal that actually ran the Biden regime desired. He has outed the EU’s duplicity with respect to defence spending and forced these countries to now seriously invest in defence. He has chosen via Vice President Vance’s Munich speech to read the riot act to a continent that has been an unreliable partner for decades.
Trump, not Obama, negotiated the Abraham Accords. The cabal that really ran the Biden regime and its fools in the State Department then proceeded to do their best to repudiate them. Trump has chosen to treat the EU’s Deep State and bureaucrats with the contempt that they so richly deserve. The EU tilt towards populism is the direct result of their incompetence and authoritarianism.
According to Jeffrey Sachs Trump is an arms merchant. And yet he wants nothing to do with selling arms to the Ukraine. What he wants is an end to the conflict and a tectonic shift of the EU towards China and Taiwan ( something the EU eschews ). He understands that China is far more dangerous than Russia despite its nuclear arsenal and belligerent policies. He understands that the CCP will never stop its war against the West and allies like Japan, the Republic of Korea and the Philippines. He also understands that Chinese undermining of America’s economic prowess via poaching, corruption and disinformation is an existential threat to his country unlike so many other countries, including Canada.

Thanks, Leigh. I could not agree more. In these people we are witnessing evil personified.
Excellent as always. Really hitting the nail on the head today.

It feels like something 'big' is brewing - Europe will NOT allow Russia to win, no matter what.

No comment on the tragedy of the children.
