The USA knows the exact location of Putin at all times, and Putin’s palaces are under constant surveillance. The USA can easily verify or deny Putin’s claims of attack, if Trump chose to do so.

Call me a neophyte but why doesn’t the west simply say to Putin “get to the bargaining table or Ukraine becomes the newest member of NATO”?
