You are probably correct, Diane, in recognizing that Trump would almost certainly lose to a Biden/Newsome ticket because everybody will understand that they are voting for the president-in-waiting. Perhaps Biden's only reason for another four years as president would be to cement his legacy as a successful president, and seek the earliest opportunity - or slippage - to pass the baton.

If a Biden/Newsome ticket is the only way to ensure a Trump defeat, then this dyed-in-the-wool conservative Republican will vote Democrat. But if Trump is the Republican contender, then ANY Democrat ticket is likely to get my vote.

However, Diane, although you emphasize Newsome's popularity, his polished style, and his experience as governor, you leave out his performance in that position. California has huge problems, not leastr of it is a seccession movement

I have always thought that Biden is only running because the Dems have failed to cultivate any suitable alternatives. Newsom is a great pick for running mate in the absence of a great main altarnative, and I do hope Mr. Biden goes for the right decision: the future of the country and not personal feelings. Harris has been pretty much MIA since January 2021 and is clearly not the right person for this job.
