The problem with politics today is that the game has become so divisive and the constituents are angrier and threatened with verbal abuse in so many ways (i.e. social media) including firearms. Their "real" salary is not high enough to maintain a good standard of living, so they need the financial support of their supporters (the underground economy). For example, look at Clarence Thomas. Their supporters expect payback/favours once in power. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Hang on to your seats if Trump ever gets in.
