The issue is that few journalists have a background in business and white collar criminality (plus geopolitics, politics and technology) like I have. Ukraine and Russia are being written about by historians, political types, policy types, and not people who have been involved in the "real world" of money, greed, and white collar fraud.

Excellent synopsis - sadly the truth is - Putin bluffed & Biden wasn't smart enough to stand up to him. The world screamed for NATO to help UKR close the skies - but no-o - o. The shutting down of grain supply led to UN & other organizations pointing to RU as 'criminal'. BUT no one does anything - so it's business as usual. You have pointed out the ridiculous side of the war that is destroying UKR at will. What will it take to wake up the West!?

I must apologize for MY rants - since the war began, I have been so ANGRY inside - even my breathing is short & tense. Your views are so important to me becuz I realize there are other voices that think as I do - but with more knowledge & insight. I'll try to keep my comments short from now on - but can't promise as it will depend on what YOU report - lol

If only there were more honest and well informed journalists and media! I am sure that many people would care, take some action or pressure their leaders if they knew and understood better what goes on in this world. But lying and misleading are cheap and effective means in the pursuit of power and invulnerability. The media serves those masters and for those goals too but often in secondary ways that make them seem less culpable, maybe just naive. They report what “both sides” say, whether one is lying and the other telling the truth or any degree of either. And the historical and other context is omitted or misrepresented.

Russia’s Crony Capitalism by Anders Aslund is a great resource for the history and workings of this kleptocracy.

Thank you, so insightful. It's difficult to imagine how all this can unfold in a logical fashion and who can manage the process?
