Ukrainians only foe aside from Putin is a completely incompetent dysfunctional USA congress. Very very disappointed and deeply disturbing. They are a ship of fools at best.

Super interview Diane. I learnt so much. Very interesting about the 2 Bush Presidents and Clinton's weakness in the face of a brutal regime. Trump is of course obscene and inaction of Congress appalling. What a country USA now is. The thing that interests me is that Russian has always been a dictatorship and Putin has been in this line from the rule of the Czars to Lenin to Stalin and his successors. I had no idea Ukriane is the brains of Russia. Way forward as you argue is in the face of the GOP led US cowardice, Europe takes charge and gives help to Ukraine.

Poland knows what will happen to them IF Ukr fails - France now understands the cost of UKR losing - dependence on USA is now in doubt - (dear God if tRUMP wins) - the world is really churning - with UKR at the center. Thankfully, Ukraine is strong in mind & strength. Thanks so much Diane for your updates AND history - can't say enough about your skill to see thru the mess & report so clearly.

your input on the current Ukraine situation is as usual right on the spot. I wish translations of your texts would be done in French language. Given the current state of mind of many of my french fellow citizens, a window to reality would be extremely welcome.

As usual, I agree with all you are saying, Diane, and it is wonderful to have you as part of the Ukrainian family. Your comments on Ukraine's difference from the Russians are especially noteworthy. An excellent book (only about 100 pages and both in English and Ukrainian) was recently published and authored by Col -General Ihor Smeshko. The General researched the issue of Ukrainian development as a nation and people going back to the pre-Hellenic era and demonstrates - with lots of documentation -how Ukraine was both a recipient and a contributor to European civilization from the early Hellenic era to the present. The book is called "Essays on Ukrainian History" and is available through Amazon. It is a real eye-opener that drives a stake through Putin's delusions.

Love the eyewitness details in your report. That wonderful picture with the orange roses says it all. On the point of all those talented Ukrainian women, a historian friend of mine once quipped that civic society arose in history because men were also interested in providing a good home for their children. Cheers!

(Conspiracy, or not?) Should the fact that "corruption under Putin-puppet Viktor Yanukovych weakened Ukraine’s military before Russia’s 2014 invasion of Eastern Ukraine and illegal annexation of Crimea" be of concern to Canadians, who also have a corrupt Prime Minister (aka "teenage actor") who seems to be reading scripts written by the CCP and has devastated not only the country's wealth and reputation, but also its military? With so many Chinese living in Canada, a well planned takeover could happen any weekend.

My take is Trudeau and Singh are flakes

Yes, complete flakes who have made a deal: "I'll keep you in office until February, 2025 so you can vest your lucrative pension, and you'll keep me in office until August, 2025, so I can say that I was PM longer than Stephen Harper." Two children playing in a sand box. But, Trudeau is corrupt, idealistic and dangerously naive.
